Na Hopena A'o (HA)

HA

SY2019-2020: SEL has evolved with the integration of cultural values from the Nā Hopena Aʻo (HĀ) Framework adopted by both Hawaii DOE and the Hawaii Public Charter School Commission.  HĀ is the Hawaiian word for BREATH which is an acronym for the behavioral outcomes which strengthen our sense of Belonging, Responsibility, Excellence, Aloha, Total Well-Being, and Hawaii. LCPCS has become a Community of Practice in partnership with the Office of Hawaiian Education, The Kohala Center and Ho’oulu ‘Āina. In addition, the LCPCS Governing Board held a Talk Story session to more clearly understand the meaning of “traditional cultural values” in the LCPCS mission statement and as a result, published “Our Values in Practice” which is intended as a local interpretation of the HĀ framework in action - view the document HERE.
